About Mindful Management
Just as the name implies, Mindful Management is dedicated to taking care of its properties as if they were their own. Ten years focused solely in the self-storage management business taught the principals what it takes to operate to budget – and much more than that. Chairman and CEO Jeffrey S. Pechter and President Stephen Block have created a strong partnership defined by a tradition of hard work and diligence – and a rare willingness to keep learning and growing.
Together, these two bring complimentary strengths to property owners across multiple asset classes. They bring solutions to the complex puzzle that is successful property management, including site development and selection; staffing and training; and the best processes available to guarantee efficient results through superior financial reporting systems. And this kind of experienced and committed management can minimize client's business risks, and create the real value that they feel truly sets them apart.
As a young man in his father's respected organization, TriStar Management, Jeffrey Pechter started as a construction laborer on garden apartment projects. After graduating the Daniels School of Business at University of Denver, Jeff came back to the family business this time overseeing construction and development projects. This experience ultimately led to property management, supervising and overseeing first the commercial, then the residential portfolio at TriStar.
Mindful Management, LLC was formed as an independent spin-off from TriStar in 2003 with partner Stephen Block, to create a real estate investment and management company that would own and operate self-storage facilities.
Jeffrey, through his family partnership, has now amassed a real estate portfolio which spans the Mid-Atlantic States, and includes apartment communities, flex/warehouse facilities and self-storage developments. Through his related companies, he has set up regional and product mix diversification strategy to cope with the uncertainties which will always exist in any business arena.
Prior to joining TriStar in 1989, Stephen spent three years in public accounting. A graduate of Muhlenberg College, Stephen was hired as Assistant Controller and rose to become CFO, responsible for all risk management, financial control functions, financing and refinancing of projects. He joined Jeffrey to create Mindful Management in 2003, where he is primarily responsible for property management, financial analysis, acquisition and development, and is an integral part of all due diligence activities.
